There are
usually several volunteers at Monkton at any one
time, working in exchange for lodging, food,
learning and experience of community life.
Volunteers come for a week at a time, from Monday
through Sunday. The work usually includes
assisting us with cooking, gardening, cleaning
and maintaining the grounds and buildings.
Volunteers work roughly 35 hours during the week,
normally from Tuesday to Saturday with Monday and
Sunday off.
While course activities are open to paying
participants only, volunteers often find
opportunities to join in a range of activities
such as singing, drumming, yoga, dancing and
local walks.
As we do not have childcare facilities at
present, we cannot offer volunteer places for
people with children unless they are willing to
contribute toward room and board. Neither can we
accommodate pets. Monkton Wyld Court does not
condone illegal drugs or excessive alcohol
consumption, and we reserve the right to cut a
visitor's stay short in case of disruptive,
disrespectful or otherwise harmful behaviour.
The first step to becoming a volunteer is to fill
out an application
form. We will
then contact you and organise the dates for
your visit. If you would like more
information, please phone or
email your questions to
us.
We look forward to hearing from you
soon.
